Twelve Hour Shift

History.

Twelve Hour Shift was collected as a trade in 2008, but took three years to complete. Originally it was printed as a mini comic in six parts. The idea was to reflect on the numerous dead-end jobs i’d worked and the one that currently occupied my waking hours. I was in a dark place during this time and reading the work now i wince at the rawness of some of the content. After three years of selling this book online at conventions and from shops it still remains one of my most popular projects.

Synopsis.

Twelve Hour Shift is a semi autobiographical work about Steve Jones who works as a concierge in a block of flats. To try and escape the job he starts a diary comic about the workplace and his work colleagues. Reality and fiction begin to merge as the long working hours and casual substance abuse take a grip of his mind. Will art build his escape route or will the job consume him forever?
