LUCY THE OCTOPUS WEBCOMIC LAUNCHES WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE
A comic for everyone who’s ever been picked on
LONDON, UK – 14 June 2012
On Wednesday 27 June, Richy K. Chandler’s Lucy the Octopus will be making the leap from small press to web comics. lucytheoctopus.net will kick off with a week of daily strips before settling into regular installments every Wednesday.
Lucy, the protagonist, is a teenage girl who happens to be an octopus. She is staggeringly unpopular, both at home and school but soldiers on, armed with a guitar, a pufferfish and the occasional Chunky Muffin milkshake for much needed sugar rushes.
The heroine has already featured in several of Richy’s small press comics including Bunch and the Tempo Lush Mini Comics range, and proven to be one of his most enduring characters. The cartoonist feels there’s a lot of scope in telling further tales of Lucy…
“At the heart of the strip is a girl who doesn’t know how to handle how cruel folk can be, because she’s never known anything else. I hope to shine a humorous spotlight on the ignorance of picking on people.”
